I tried a little youcube experiment. The idea worked out better than the execution. Have all six sides of a cube playing a different youtube clip and as you rotate the cube each bit progresses along. So armed with a theme, food, I created the lunchbox, with 6 food songs. However, I could never get more than three songs/clips to play all at once. The result was a cube with blank spaces more often than not.

Now there are umpteen food ‘n’ funk songs: Mother Popcorn, Pass Me The Peas, Green Onions, and even one about starving that I can think of (Giving Up Food For Funk) but a lot of these songs are instrumental where as this number deals with the experience of coming home and sharing food with the family.
Vegetables by the Beach Boys; in case you did not know they didn’t just sing about the surf. Brain Wilson once ran a macrobiotics store so living healthy was always on the cards and this sweet little song just confirms it. I remember once being told that Paul McCartney contributed some chomping sounds to this track.
Eggs and Sausage by Tom Waits; time for some greasy stuff as our mains. Originally from his excellent live set Nighthawks At The Diner, this clip is a treat, with Tom singing the song unaccompanied while actually in a diner. It’s like he’s singing the menu to you.
Cheeseburger In Paradise by Jimmy Buffett is a blast; more of the greasy good times although situated closer to the beach than the city, sunshine instead of neon. Still fatty foods though so mind the calories.
The sun also shines in Texas and the cooking there is mighty fine as Guy Clark expounds to us in this catchy little ditty. Makes me want to eat armadillo.
And lastly dessert; Richard and Linda Thompson singing Hokey Pokey. Ummm, this song is about ice cream isn’t it?
Whew, that was a lot to digest. Maybe you should take all of this in in small bite sized pieces. Don’t forget to chew!

Fred Wesley, I have seen him – and Hokey Pokey is my favourite icecream, love those big bits of butterscotch. Tried out the YouCube, only one of the cube sides did not work for me, think it is the Texas Cooking one.
Only one side didn’t work? Better success rate than me. Glad it almost all worked for you. Did you like the experience of turning the cube and hearing the music come and go? Sort of like playing with the radio dial I guess.
