Back when I was buying all of these books for their covers, quite a few authors kept popping up, and Erle Stanley Gardner was one of them. From what I can gather he was a detective story writer trying to hit on that winning formula of sleaze, mystery and gin. Last week he gave us that big golden boot; this week, well, I’m sure the scene depicted is relevant to the book not that I can work out how by reading the back cover. The title is the next mystery. How do cows and music figure into this? Maybe I should have read this book.

This looks pretty amusing. I especially like the trifecta of sleaze, mystery and gin. What more can a detective mystery want? The Musical Cow though? This does seem rather mysterious. Also unclear as to why they’ve gone the bondage trope for the front cover. Guess one has to read this gem to find out the answers to these questions.
